Job purpose
Oversees and manages accounting department; over sees preparation of monthly financial statements for internal and external reporting; responsible for maintaining accounting records; oversee budget process and implementation at corporate and job cost level; work with production management on project performance versus budget; administrator for the company’s computerized accounting system; oversee treasury management function; responsible for all tax filings; performs special projects and tasks as dictated by senior management.

1. Oversees and manages accounting department
a. Delegate tasks to staff
b. Coordinates training efforts in the department
c. Performs semi-annual staff evaluations
d. Counsels personnel when issues arise
e. Reviews and approves time records including requests for PTO
2. Oversee preparation of monthly financial statements
a. Review monthly reconciliations and GL analysis
b. Review support for journal entries
c. Review work in process schedule and update accordingly
d. Runs financial statements and reviews for accuracy and unusual trends
e. Submits financial statements to Sr. Vice President for final review and approval
3. Maintaining accounting records
a. Responsible for overseeing the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts monthly, including, cash, AR, inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, AP, accrued expenses and other payables.
b. Oversees processes that ensure accurate recording of time records and job cost, temp labor, billing, AP invoices, corporate credit card transactions, job settings and charges and banking transactions.
c. Maintains company’s treasury management reporting within corresponding bank’s online treasury management system including initiation of banking transactions and import/export of data
4. Oversee budgeting and forecasting process
a. Work with department heads to establish budgets
b. Maintain reporting process that explains variances
c. Review budgets for individual projects
d. Report P&L results of individual projects
5. Administers computerized accounting system
a. Responsible for coordinating all software updates and patches with IT department for accounting system
b. Approve set up of new users in system and “roles” of users
c. Acts as troubleshooter when issues arise with system
6. Tax filings
a. Responsible for all sales, personal and real estate tax filings and payments

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment on the shipyard. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Routinely, there will be a need for the incumbent to work/walk Lyon shipyard and all areas therein.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position periodically requires long hours and weekend work. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is an essential function and a prerequisite to perform other essential functions of the position.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
1. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting and twelve to fifteen years’ experience in the Accounting field, or any similar combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years of managerial experience.
2. Previous experience working with job cost.
3. CPA certification preferred but not required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Education based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with the business necessity.

2. Proficient in Microsoft Office products
3. Minimum 12 years of accounting experience in all aspects of GL, AP, AR, payroll and general accounting duties
4. Ability to work with multiple systems and integrating them into current work environment
